For whatever reason you may need to change the 'License To' info for Visual Studio 2010. The biggest benefit of keeping this accurate is to ensure your assembly information gets prepopulated correctly when creating new projects. Here's how you do it:
1) You must change the registry key that is used by the Help..About Dialog Box first (Pick your platform):
On a x86 bit (32 bit OS) computer follow the below path:
On a x64 bit (64 bit OS) computer follow the below path:
*Changing the UserName will change the first line in the help about dialog.
*Changing the RegisteredOrganization will change the second line in the help about dialog.
2) Reboot your computer.
3) Now you can fix the Splash Screen (Pick your platform):
On a x86 bit (32 bit OS) computer, run the path below:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE\devenv.exe" /setup
On a x64 bit (64 bit OS) computer, run the path below:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE\devenv.exe" /setup
Now launch Visual Studio 2010 to check if both the splash screen and About box shows the name and organization you entered. If so, you will want to create a new project and check that the new information is auto populated in the 'Assembly Information' window. This is found under the Project Properties menu and the 'Application' tab; it's a button. Below are screen shots of what you should see in each of the three places.
As always, here's to making your code SiZZLE.
